Installed this above the French door Cafe wall oven. Looks great. Wish it opened the same way as the French door oven, it's a bit hard having to reach over the door to get inside the microwave, it's a good thing I am not any shorter than what I am. Features are a bit different than my above the range advantium oven was, still learning how to navigate the set up. Love the appearance and get many compliments.

Had this installed three weeks ago. Works as described. But not pleased that the display screen stopped working already. Concerned that if there is one repair at three weeks that the product will contribute to have problems.

Cooks well, awkward design

It used to be that microwave ovens had doors that opened from the side, and conventional ovens had doors that opened from the bottom. GE was wise enough to recognize the problem with doors that open from the bottom, and came out with their CAFE series main oven with French doors. Why they decided to join the bandwagon and take a step backwards with the combination oven is beyond me. Since I redesigned my kitchen, I was able to place this lower than a traditional microwave oven, so that my wife could see into it. Despite that, and despite being a taller than average man, I ended up finding it awkward to clean since I need to reach in twice as far as with a conventional microwave oven, given that the door is in the way. Despite that, it cooks well. The microwave part is less powerful than what I had been used to for a long time and with many microwave ovens, so some things take longer. Despite that, it cooks well and cooks evenly. It offers a large array of pre-programmed menu choices, both for microwave and combination cooking. Most of these menu items do a good job. With some, the times are off by quite a bit compared to where they should be, but the oven does a fine job when the time is adjusted. For example, it can heat a frozen pizza in about five minutes, and keep the crust crisp, unlike a microwave oven. Yet the recipe gives a time closer to 15 minutes. For many people, despite the fancy functions, it will be used to reheat things using a quick 30 type button to heat things based on time in a microwave. Another common use will be to reheat plates of food using sensor reheat modes. This oven does those tasks very well. It lacks a +/- feature for the sensor reheat functions, but tends to get things right. Overall, it's a far superior product to others on the market, and what it loses with some shortcomings, it makes up for with added features. I wish that its designers had taken a clue from the CAFE design team that came up with the French door oven and recognized that a traditional oven door is a step backwards, and that's especially true for something that gets mounted high up.
